When you think of using primary colors for home decor, most immediately think of decorating a child’s room or the interior of an ultra-modern loft in SoHo — but done right, the primary color of red, blue and yellow can be used in any home decor style: traditional, french provencial, eclectic modern, english country, etc.
By using inspiration from beautifully appointed rooms and the galleries of amazing interior designers, it’s actually very easy to decorate our homes using time-tested and proven combinations that stand out, making the process of introducing primary colors into your home decor a breeze. Why not try adding one focal point piece into the room, such as as red sofa or blue chevron side-chair? And let’s not forget about all of the amazing accessories you can add to a very neutral room to add instant pop, such as throw pillows — it’s also a very cost effective way to change a room instantly!
I love the idea of bright and bold patterns, colors and textures for summer! Any decor can benefit and transform from a few select accessories and furniture pieces that liven up a room after a long (and in some areas, very long!) winter — we throw open the curtains and let the sunshine in, it’s wonderful and refreshing. Joss and Main, one of my favorite places for home decor and home decor ideas, has put together a beautiful collection of lights, brights and bolds to lift the spirit of both you and your home! I especially love the yellow: shades of butter and gold, dreamy and joyful. And my favorite color for summer this year a relaxing combination of both turquoise and tiffany blue — as well as earthy shades of celery and celadon green — mix them all together for a chic home decor recharge! EnJOY!
TGIF everyone! I love Friday’s — even though I work from home, I still love the whole feel of the day and how we wind down our week to relax and breathe some much needed recharge into our lives via the weekend! I decided to start doing “Friday Favorites” every Friday because I find that during the week I accumulate many things that I find around the internet during my virtual window shopping or reading that I don’t have time to create a whole post around, but they are great things so I stash them in my Evernote (definitely one of my fave things is the Evernote app!) and on Fridays I will dump them here There’s no theme or anything, just cool, interesting stuff — enJOY!
When it comes to the colors that invoke the feeling of a season, I think beautiful turquoise blue is a “shoe” in for Spring! I absolutely love all shades of turquoise from robin’s egg to Tiffany to shades of a turquoisey mint (<– I think I just created my own color!) pair these gorgeous blues with white capris, a black maxi or a great pair of stone khakis for instant pop. Or maybe you need a great dress or accessories — turquoise blue looks amazing on everyone and the jewelry can be worn so easily with any color you already have in your wardrobe. Give it a try — find out how mood-boosting a color can be! EnJOY!
The International Day of Happiness 2014 is March 20th, and I can’t think of a color quite as happy as yellow! Whether it is a smiley face, a baby duckling, peeps candy at Easter, the Sunflower crayon or just our own beautiful sun, the color yellow denotes happy days and fun times that lift the spirit — give it a try! EnJOY!
I love masculine decor with it’s earthy elements, dark and brooding fabrics and the dichotomy of textures you get when you combine rugged woods, sleek metals and furs! Whether set into a room that is light and airy or paneled and dusky, masculine furniture and accessories make the difference; as soon as you enter a man’s room you see and feel the difference — and you should! One King’s Lane has a terrific assortment of masculine decor for any room: living room to home office to the proverbial basement-laden mancave, the selection is varied and eccentric. EnJOY!
